Music to build a Sphere of Meditation

Do you enjoy making music or singing, and would like to involve this as part of your spiritual development? If so, then you are are warmly invited to participate in a weekend of spiritually creative music making in the peaceful mountain village of Lundo in Trentino, Northern Italy. Lundo is the home of the so-called Sun Oasis, a place of connection and dialogue for people who want to bring a living spirituality to the world and our aim over the weekend is to build a sphere, or atmosphere of meditation. The unique spiritual impulse, and the source of spiritual warmth and light in the Sun Oasis, comes from the person of spiritual teacher Heinz Grill, who resides there.
The venue
Over the last few years, many of the old houses in this ancient mountain village have been renovated following Heinz Grill’s ideas of harmonious architecture, providing a variety of unique venues. These are used by the Sun Oasis and by the spiritual academy that operates there. Thus we have various places in which we can gather, including a converted wine cellar with vaulted ceilings and a wonderful acoustic as a music room.
The creative process
Previous gatherings of musicians at the Sun Oasis have been highly creative. Familiar songs may be performed in a completely different way depending on the singers and instruments present, and on the ideas that evolve as we rehearse. At the start, however, is always a meditative thought, which we think together, placing it in the room and offering it space to grow. As we work with songs and music, the thought takes expression, coming alive more and more, until it has a radiance that brings harmony both to the music and to the connection between us.
The music
The songs we sing can be quite varied, including Indian chants, well-known songs like “I am sailing”, “Morning has broken”, and also some new songs based on words by Heinz Grill composed especially for the Sun Oasis. Singing is sometimes in unison, sometimes in harmony, and the accompaniment develops creatively each time, depending on the instruments available. In the past we have had harp, guitar, keyboard, flute, dulcimer, zither, organ and more. In spite of the outer variety, there is an inner unity created by the fact that we all think the same spiritual thought.
Do feel free to bring your instrument, whatever it is (well – the organ is actually in situ – you don’t need to bring your own!). There will be the opportunity to get together with others and perform instrumental pieces as well as to accompany the singers.
Living spirituality
In the evenings you are invited to attend the evening gathering where Heinz Grill himself shares thoughts of deep wisdom. His thoughts carry a deep content of truth, and so they speak to each of us in the depth of the heart. These times are always a very special moment as they can open up new insights for us, or bring to the surface realisations that had previously not reached conscious awareness. Thus these encounters represent an important landmark on our journey of spiritual development.
At these evening gatherings there will be an opportunity to play and sing in the presence of Heinz Grill and to receive his guidance on refining the spiritual expression of the music. In this way we learn how to bring a deeper and wider-reaching power into the music. Our aim is to create a sphere that can radiate a peaceful atmosphere not only to each other but to the world.
For whom?
This invitation is extended to any keen singers or musicians who would like to combine music making with spirituality, and so create an offering of peace. You do not have to be a professional musician or soloist. Just a keen interest in both music and spirituality, and a wish to develop yourself inwardly are needed.
Other activities
If you wish, there will be the opportunity to practice yoga in the mornings. In your free time you can go for walks around the village and enjoy the spectacular mountain views.

Accommodation is available in a variety of artistically designed houses and creative, nourishing, vegetarian wholefood meals are provided.
