The yoga workshop – the beauty of movement
The yoga poses are graceful expressions of beauty and meaning. However, to achieve their full potential, the poses need technical knowledge and practice.
This yoga workshop will provide detailed instruction in the practice of a selection of poses. One aim is to give you valuable technical tips to improve your practice. You will receive individualised tips and troubleshooting to help you take the next steps forward, whatever your level.
In particular we will work at expressing beauty; giving each movement a graceful flow so that it feels natural, more effortless and also energising.
Each yoga asana has a meaning. It can help us develop specific individual inner strengths for life and also bears a deep and universal meaning. When we develop a feeling for these meanings it opens up a new world of experience in our yoga practice.
About Karen
Karen Patterson has been teaching yoga for nearly 35 years. She is particularly keen to help each student make progress in their yoga practise and her workshops are full of individualised tips and hands on adjustments.
The approach to yoga
Karen’s style is influenced mainly by the “Yoga Art” of the German spiritual teacher Heinz Grill . Over the last 40 years, Heinz Grill has developed a vast body of work detailing the personal learning steps and spiritual meanings of the yoga asanas. In his many books and videos he describes in detail the forms and meanings of the poses. People from many countries study at his spiritual academy in the Italian mountains, and yoga as a beautiful art form is spreading out from that centre as addition to world culture.
The venue
Yogasara means “the Essence of Yoga”. The Bristol Yoga studio offers you a warm welcome, an oasis in the city, a place to come and re-vitalise your body-mind and soul. The space has a clean, naturally oiled wooden floor and private changing area. There is a full range of yoga equipment – mats, blocks, belts, cushions and bolsters available for use. At the back is a well looked after walled garden with a picnic table, fruit trees and bike racks. You will also have access to a small kitchen for teas, coffees and two unisex toilets.
